“The world’s most dangerous terrorist power” – that is how Ronen Bergman, well-known Israeli journalist and author, characterized the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung of June 2, 2009 he gave a pessimistic estimation of the current situation in Iran even though Iran's religious leader, Ali Chamenei was weakened due to the uprisings following the obvious election fraud: “It was a body blow for the Iranian regime but it retains total control of the security apparatus. From the Israeli point of view there is no change regarding the existential threat coming from Iran.”

The brutal way in which the uprising was put down shows once more the character of this regime that keeps radicalizing and militarizing through the current purges within the power apparatus. So much the bigger is the danger caused by the nuclear program that keeps being furthered with might and main. However, in Germany this international threat is not only ignored, moreover Germany assiduously maintains economic relations with Iran that often strengthen the regime directly. Germany delivers main infrastructure for the energy sector, the regime's principle source of income, along with dual use goods and high technology that is used for tracing the opposition.  

Dr. Ronen Bergman will speak about the 30 year fight of the Islamic revolution in Iran against the West and put the current events in a historical context. With his recent publication “The secret war with Iran” he just presented a definite book on the issue.
